If someone says something like this to you, ask them why and you will probably just get a blank, gormless look in reply.
Why? Is the greatest question in the world, so simple and effective.
The latest piece of revolutionary dietary advice I heard was "Don't eat fruit after 2pm because the sugars are harder to digest" WHAT?! I mean why? What happens to fruit at 2pm?
What does that even mean? Is it like when Joanne gets woken before 7am? because I know that's bad and should be avoided at all costs.
So it's 1:56pm and I'm staring at the fruit bowl with a mixture of fear and excitement
1:57pm: My palms are clammy and heart rate is increasing.
1:58pm: Sweat is now pouring from my brow, I'm shaking.
1:59pm: I'm having second thoughts, I'm too young to die!
30 seconds to go....20.........10.......5,4,3,2,1..............................
2pm: Nothing! Well there's 4 minutes of my life I'm never getting back.
Of course nothing happened, why would it, it's just bloody fruit. Eat it whenever you want, the sugar will still be sugar. It won't magically turn into a donut or some possessed creature from a low budget Halloween movie.
I don't know if you can tell, but things like this really wind me up. They don't help anybody, it only serves to confuse. If you want some fruit, go for it, berries are your best option, low in sugar, high in nutrition.
Anyway the point of this rant was to say; Don't believe everything you are told, even if it is a professional or qualified person that is telling you it. Always ask why and if in doubt ask me. I don't profess to be the smartest person in the world, but I read, I read a lot and if I don't know the answer I will find it out, because I need to know why and never just believe what I am told.
A wise man (possibly the Dalai Lama or Russel brand I can't quite remember) said:
"True wisdom is not simply believing what we are told, but instead experiencing and understanding truth and reality"
Anyhoo, what's for tea tonight?
I'm having salmon again, got a real taste for it lately.
Bye for now
