I've not had a bath for what seems like an eternity. I have washed don't worry, I've just not had a nice relaxing soak. Joanne's out tonight, so I put on the bath whilst I got the girls ready for bed. When I went to get in though, disaster struck. It wasn't close to boiling point like I like it, it was luke warm, tepid at best. Not to be deterred, I released some of the water and refilled it with hot. To my dismay it was still only warm. The temperature was sufficient for a ten minute dip, but I wanted a full half hour of warmth. This time I emptied half of the the bath and blasted the hot tap. After a few setbacks, more effort than I'd hoped and a lot later than planned I finally got my bath, and it was lovely.
You may wonder why I'm telling you this, it's not because i'm bored, it's because there is an important moral to my bath tale. Things don't always go how we plan them. That goes for anything in life; training, diet, relationships, DIY, chances are you are going to have set backs. Now I could could have just scrapped my bath when I first realised it was cold, thinking it was too difficult or too time consuming to get it right. But where would that have got me? I wouldn't have written this blog and you wouldn't had had the opportunity to read it. Everyone loses.
if you have a weight loss goal things aren't always going to go to plan. There are going to be weeks where you don't lose. You may even gain a little, but don't just throw your toys out of the bath and get a shower at the first hurdle, take a minute to assess what has gone wrong and how to fix it.
Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain and difficulty.
- Theodore Rosevelt
There is nothing wrong with making a mistake, or taking a backward step, if you learn from it and it enables you to take two steps forward.
If you don't know why your weight loss has stalled, your not getting stronger or your shelf keeps falling down then seek professional help. There is always a reason, it is never just because it's not meant to be.
